dogs are better than cats, and cats are better than dogs. I personally am a dog person, because I like having a pet who's interested in more than just sleeping shitting and eating. You can easily leave a dog alone for more than 12 hours and have no problems, unless you have a poorly trained animal.
It's asinine to say that people who own dogs are only interested in having a subservient animal. My dog is indeed well trained, but only because it allows her to be more safe and have more fun. I've lost several cats to being hit by cars or running away and getting lost (or eaten by a coyote, we found just the head). My dog would never run into traffic, ever. Being well trained allows me to walk her off leash for many miles in almost any environment and not worry about her running off after another dog or a person. Training a dog (or most people) is less about dominating the animal, and more about keeping the animal in control. Dogs are just more fun, for me.
On the flip side, cats can be fun, too. I definitely enjoy having a cat sit on my lap while i rub its cheeks, listen to it purr, have it fall asleep. Cats can be very calming and relaxing, and for people who don't have a lot of time to have a more 'serious' pet (why buy a pet if you can't give it attention, kagatob?), cats are an excellent way to enjoy having a low maintenance animal.
The bottom line is, there are cat people, dog people, and people who enjoy both (like me, though like i said i am partial to dogs). I could say a lot of bad things about all the people talking shit about dogs and dog people, but there's no point (you'll notice the dog people in this thread haven't been talking shit about cats or cat people... hmm). It's a subject animal lovers will have to agree to disagree on. What we an all agree on is that having a pet is both therapeutic and fun.

Each has it's own positives and negatives. personally i'd rather have sex, and the last 2 partners i've had were amazing at giving head. it's just more intimate and enjoyable to fuck.
