I'm pro-gun control. A weapon stylized to resemble military assault weapons, which has been used in multiple mass killings, and isn't of any particular use when hunting or self-defense pretty much has no reasonable use to the public. Handgun proliferation is also a huge issue.

The AR-15 is perhaps the most commonly used hunting rifle on the planet. It's also way better than a handgun for home defense. Arguably better than a shotgun too, since bird shot'll hit your daughter when Chester the molester crawls in her window.

Australia's model for disarmament looks pretty sensible. Siezure of firearms crosses the line, though. Unless the weapons were obtained illegally, or were used in violent crime, constitutional protections against this sort of thing would certainly apply.

Bad example. Home invasions, rapes, and other theft/violent crime skyrocketed after Australia went communist. This is no surprise to people who know that more guns = less crime. Those of us with guns behind our doors keep you slaves safe just from the fact criminals don't know which houses are packing heat. If we didn't need guns, we wouldn't need locks.

The best step we could take in the near term would be to close loopholes in firearm purchasing to make background checks as pervasive and effective as possible.

The gun show loophole is a nonexistent liberal myth. 99% of all firearm transfers besides like father to son require FFL Form 4473 and a NICS background check. This is from the federal Gun Control Act of 1968, let alone all the newer liberal nanny state CRAP at the state level.
