^^^I was just about to post this when I saw the title of the thread.
They are doing that for multiple reasons. When training people in sales, you teach them to repeat a name and use it as often as possible to memorize it. If you are forced to use the name every time you speak with them, you are more likely to remember it.
Also, I try to remember one thing about each one of my clients or prospects and tie it together with their name. It helps with making them feel more comfortable and gives the impression that I give a fuck about more than their money.... which I really don't.
