my ap yi build is somewhat radical:
tear > catalyst > cdr boot > sheen > rod > lichbane > staff > deathcap > nashors
if i am either not doing well or conversely doing very well (off target either way), I get the codex to build nashors early.
early game this build suffers from low damage alphas, but he can sustain them and do them much more often, which is better for a more conservative yet high pressure approach
late game ends up being 800ish ap applying 150ish magic damage to each hit, and the first hit after each cast is +600 magic damage as well. if you don't have mr, and you're not a TANK, i 2-5 shot you 1v1, but most of the time i wait for one person to be low, calling for focus, and then dart in to alpha kill that low person and then work off the resets.. not many can survive 2 800ap alphas, but if u do i hit you for 100ish attack damage + 750 magic damage, and that is usually enough for a third reset .. we're talking quadra and penta here, but i have a harder time pulling that off in ranked than normals
This version of AP yi is getting a buff in the upcoming overhaul, not a nerf.
