The smoothness and colorfulness of WoW is unparalleled.
But it's impossible for me to truly entertain playing again. So few classes, so few play options now. It's like, you get to level 15 and then just random dungeon queue your way to level cap in less than a month of casual play. I remember how it used to be, running to new zones to check out the quests available, looking on WoW websites for the best places to level, exploring the world. Last time I was on, I went to the two barrens zones and they were virtually empty. Fucking remember Barrens Chat, the cesspool it once was? But it was a community, regardless. There used to be ~80 people in the Barrens at any given time, and now the world is just empty and people cluster in the towns because they just queue their way into everything and have no reason to leave or do anything else. It is so mind-numbingly automated and over-simplified now that it's impossible to enjoy. Every dungeon 1-80, you can do without having to say a single word to your group, and most of the time that's exactly what happens. No community.
Last time I played was some time after Pandaria came out, and every BG was like 80% monk. The Panda models annoy the living piss out of me.

Zones aren't empty anymore, because most zones are "cross realm zones" now (every server on the battlegroup ends up in the zone together basically I think, so you end up with VERY full zones and tons of world pvp). Monks and pandas are the least popular class and race. No one forces you to mindlessly queue and faceroll dungeons while sitting in org/sw if you don't want to do it.
Community is what you make of it. Don't like the retards in general chat? Then turn off general chat, find some friends, join a guild of like-minded individuals, etc.
