When I say donations I mean donations. If I don't get anything I'm cool with that. If people want to give me a tip because of the amount of time I'm saving them, then great. I've gotten donations of 30gp before and donations of 300pp before. I never know what I'm getting (or if I'm getting anything at all) until the trade window opens. So I feel pretty justified using the word "donations". Even if I'm excited if I get that big donation from someone with a lot of plat, I'm not disappointed if I don't get it.
