Shard of night is 0.018 better than Argent Protector ratio-wise, but you get a bigger damage bonus with Argent Protector. Plus you are taking less riposte damage.

Argent Protector, since 2h weapon bonus is better than 1h, and ratio is better too. Most solo/group content for XP purposes isn't going to really require sword and board, especially at your level...
