New Necro Info

Hi all,

Thanks for all the advice in some of my previous posts. I am loving the people on this server! A friend (druid) and I have made our first chars on the server and were looking for advice on how to progress. Any good tips for hunting spots for a druid/necro from 5+? We are in EC now. We are both looking to making some money as these are our first chars and we need to get some cash for spells/gear. Do any low level mobs drop anything that people on this server buy? Do people only buy HQ pelts?

Also, feel free to /tell me online. My char's name is also Phobius.

Thanks!

People definitely buy HQ pelts, and they sell pretty well, since they're used to create 10% weight reduction bags that also sell well. Generally speaking, however, killing humanoid creatures is your quickest way to cash in EverQuest: Orcs, Goblins, Bandits, Dervishes and so on will all yield weapons, armor pieces, cash, vendor trash and so on.

(going by EQlive experience): You can start killing wisps at about level 8, and the greater lightstones can be turned in for a concordance of research which sells for 10p, as opposed to selling the GLS for 5p. My casters always funded their 12~16 spell costs off of willowsisps. They're very common in north karana, west commonlands, and the Island ships dock at in Erud's Crossing.

I forget the exact level, but somewhere around 20~24 there are two static treants in south karana that respawn in either one or two minutes each, and drop considerable wealth in coins and great staffs. I remember seeing drops like 10 gold, 100+silver, etc, so it's rather heavy, but still profitable.

Highkeep guards drop fine steel weapons, and there are merchants in that zone that don't care if you kill the guards. I did that on my necro off and on from my upper 20s until I started killing bards and nobles in my 40s and 50s (right when they nerfed the xp on live).

In the 50s you can easily kill guards in cities like felwithe and oggok.

As you can tell, my necro didn't really care about faction. Your druid friend certainly won't appreciate any of those suggestions, but if you haven't killed a treant you're not a real necro :D

Thanks. What level can we both handle a dungeon? What dungeons are there for lowbies? Is the loot even worth it at this point (or is it easier to just farm plat and buy?)

I believe Project1999 only goes to level 50.

Crushbone or Blackburrow can be started by level 4 easily. You don't have to xp outside of a dungeon ever.

Edit: unless they're too crowded, of course.

Until it releases kunark, and then it will go to 60.

And tomorrow will be wednesday.

And city guards can be killed at 50.
