Heya guys, whats the deal with War and Monk?
Hey guys, I'm about to start a warrior or monk and I had a few questions, mostly about damage for each class. I understand that warrior is very gear dependent but for posterity sake I need to know some info.
Why doesn't warrior damage ever catch up to a monk's at 60, in Kunark, or Velious? I know warriors get triple attack at 60 which should be a huge boost in damage, so how come warriors doesn't eventually out do monks? Also, how much damage do warriors do currently at end game (when well geared) compared to other classes? Appreciate the info, thanks again. |

To do decent DPS as a warrior you have to be berserking, which isn't really an option if you're tanking. I've never seen a DPS parse with berserk warriors because I don't see berserk warriors in raids very often at all, but their DPS may well be decent. Someone else will have to weigh in. |
Monks do crazy damage. Warriors under berserker deal a lot of damage too, though probably somewhat below monks, and you can't count on being berserk all the time. Then as a warrior, you're the best tank overall, with solid mitigation and the largest health pull, which is where the monk falls behind.

I believe the skill cap for monks is higher than warriors, also I believe monks get more attack rating per skill than warriors do.
Warrior 1hblunt = 200 = 800 attack (for example only, not accurate) Monk 1hblunt = 200 = 920 attack (see above) |
At 60 warriors aren't that far behind monks in dps in my experience. Sure you will have some insane parses from 60 monks who innerflame on 30 second fights and get lucky with the Bo Staff of Trorsmang while the warrior is defensive/evasive and in front of the mob, stuff like:
Phisting says, './G Phara Dar in 34s, 27k @800dps --- Fistosaurus 3k @115dps (11%) --- Baxter 3k @82dps (9.62%) --- Flipadelphia 2k @77dps (9.02%) --- Gabobrik 2k @98dps (9.02%) --- Internode 2k @75dps (8.51%) --- Phisting 2k @65dps (8.12%) --- Selkie 2k @72dps (7.12%) --- Biggslick 1k @46dps (5.37%) --- Lonegin 1k @48dps (4.91%) --- Kautin 1k @41dps (3.59%)' (Fistosaurus and Phisting are monks with the Bo Staff, Baxter/Flip/Gab are rogues, and Biggslick is a tanking warrior while Lonegin is a dpsing alt with VP weapons). But more typical is something like: [Mon Feb 11 22:30:16 2013] Peate says, 'The Spiroc Lord in 46s, 32k @686dps --- A soul harvester 12k @276dps (37.6%) --- Azzudnue 6k @141dps (18.76%) --- Kloktor 3k @69dps (10.08%) --- Peate 2k @55dps (7.5%) --- Furiously 2k @49dps (6.45%) --- Sakuragi 2k @50dps (5.89%) --- Gabeker 2k @43dps (5.81%) --- Warboy 2k @38dps (5.29%) --- Xober 1k @16dps (1.98%) --- Kabeker 0k @5dps (0.62%)' Azz is a rogue, Kloktor/Peate/Furiously are epic monks with the Stave of Shielding, and Sakuragi is a warrior with a Howling Cutlass and Veridix's Shortsword. I'm guessing I didn't disc that time; usually I'm more like 35 dps. The big reason everyone thinks monks do so much more damage than warriors is at 50 the monk has something like 240 offense/weapon skill compared to the warrior's 200 and is wielding say 15/25+17/28 while the warrior is stuck with 9/20+14/28. Then at 60 their skillcaps are the same, the warrior gets triple attack, and both get their epics and suddenly the monk with 9/16+17/28 isn't crushing the warrior with 14/24+14/24 nearly as badly. The exception to all this is the Wu's Fist of Mastery, that thing is just sick. |
but you kno come velious wars will fall behind quite a bit :(
