Unusual Holiday Traditions?

I was discussing Christmas with a friend and during this conversation it was revealed to me that not every family on the block buys chocolate oranges every Christmas lol. Just one of those things I thought everyone else did.

Any unusual / interesting holiday traditions out there?

My father likes to get completely obliterated on Christmas eve, embarrass the entire family via inappropriate comments to my wife/brothers wife, disappears for 10-20 minutes at a time doing god knows what, and usually ends up passing out on the floor in the bathroom around 10pm.

That's normal though, right?

My dad's cousin comes over for xmas to my family each year, and brings a fifth of Black Stallion whiskey. Hes had like 3 cases of it that have been around since his wedding 30 years ago and just brings one over each year. Ends up being pretty damn good times, despite me hating whiskey.

Get drunk and listen to the Beatles all Xmas eve whilst wrapping presents.

This Thanksgiving, I declared Traditional Thanksgiving Facial Hair Battle. I had an interesting moustache/goatee combination that wouldn't have been out of place at the original event, and I challenged all the other male members of the family to show up with something cool on their faces next year.

I would like to share with you a very personal experience about drinking and driving.

As you well know, some of us have been known to have had probably just one too many after the occasional social session over the years.

A couple of nights ago I was out for happy hour with friends and had a couple of cocktails and some Dr. Pepper and Crown. Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I’ve never done before….I took a cab home. I know - you are shocked.

Sure enough, I passed a police road block but, since it was a cab, they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise; as I have never driven a cab before and am not sure where I got it or what to do with it now that it’s in my garage.

:p Have a SAFE and Happy New Year!! :)
