How far will Banded get a Paladin?

New at the game here and making a Paladin. I can afford full Banded but I am wondering if being a non-twink will be ok just rocking banded, (I already have a good weapon at the suggestion of people in these forms already, so thanks for that advice!) and when/where/level I should start farming for better gear.

Any advice?

good till 30s for sure. In 30s+ you can start slowly upgrading from drops to bronze or better

In your 20's you should be started on your or armor and in your 30's you will prob be finishing It up IMO it's not even necessary to get bronze armor, shit is so heavy especially if your new you will want that extra weight limit for stuff to sell

Pretty much wrong in all accounts, right there.

Hey Lorraine, that betrays an extremely myopic twinkie-dorf-o-centric point of view. Every non-twinked paladin other than dwarf has issues with strength vs. weight at low- and mid-levels. Your criticism is false.

My criticism is not false.

Every non-twinked paladin without a few higher levels to back them up will never start the Armor of Ro quests in mid 20's, and pretty much -FINISH- them in their 30s without spending hours upon hours of running around, the help of trackers/porters, regular group in their 30s, and quite a few of outside assistance or backup.

As far as bronze armor goes, we broke into the planes wearing it back in the day, so it's kinda far off from being useless.

Statement stands.

I can confirm that the armor of ro quests are nightmarish.

The question isn't how good bronze is, rather how much better than banded, and it is a very minimal upgrade at best.

Banded armor is rubbish past about level 20 or so. Upgrade it as soon as possible after that point.

Bronze can take you at least into the 30's, by which time you should have sufficient income to be able to afford fine plate, various other pieces (enameled black BP, etc). or possibly Deepwater armor. With as many options as are available for most slots, I can't fathom why someone would spend the time questing for Armor of Ro unless it's a personal goal to do so.

Sure, you can be lazy and wear banded into the 30's or 40's, but then you're nothing but a drain on the groups unfortunate enough to invite you. If you're going to play with such a mindset, why pick a Paladin at all? Be a necromancer or druid and solo everything, no gear needed. A person playing a tank class should try to be the best tank he can possibly be. That comes with the territory.

If you can't wear your armor and still carry a decent amount of loot, odds are you chose poorly with respect to stat allotment and gear choices. Early on when P99 first opened, I knew 6 or 7 Paladins who dumped all their stat points into stamina and ended up qutting at level 30ish due to being constantly encumbered and unable to carry anything. Beware!

Bronze is about 1 ac more than Banded in most slots, btw. It's mostly not worthwhile upgrading to bronze if it's your first character apart from whatever drops for you as you level... Like you said, there are a lot of options.
