new to server

Hey all, came across a reddit thread today with a screenshot of qeynos hills and in the thread people were talking about project 1999.. I used to play eq for a number of years starting in 2000 and just LOVED it, although it consumed my life at the time. So I got it up and going and made one of my favorite classes, a Erodite Chanter, but sadly I am alone in the zone which makes it hard for leveling and so on. I see two boxing is not allowed on this server? So that is out.. How hard is it to get groups? Is there a pretty decent population on this server? I am thinking of maybe making a wood elf druid, just for sow's, ports and soloing capabilities. Since this is pre pop and someone who can port would be beneficial... but then I am thinking there is probably a ton of druids running around already for this very reason. What classes are most desirable besides the obvious cleric? My main classes I have played and my personal favorite are necros and chanters.. also played a druid and ranger pretty high as well.

thanks!

You have showed up at a good time: the waning days of summer. Our population is on the rise. Last night we had 500+ which is a fairly healthy population. Out of the way newbie areas are ghost towns, but nearer the real population centers, the game world is bristling with life.

Folks that start here often have an intro thread asking what'll be a useful class. My take is always this: play what you want. In all my EQ years, the player has always meant more than his or her class. I stand by this statement even for the "crappy" classes.

Play what you want. It makes you a better player to do so. We need good players.

And most importantly: welcome home =)

Stick with your favorite! Just /who all druid and try to find one that will pick you up and bring you to the freeport area and bind you. Promise them free clarity for life if you must. Good luck!

First of all, welcome to the server! You'll certainly enjoy the great people and fun times here. My main is an Erudite Enchanter (since it was my main on live in 99)
I moved immediately to Qeynos as I found Tox wasn't a fun noob zone. Qeynos is still one of the out of the way zones but it's my favorite. I started all of my characters there. The Gnoll fang quest is an awesome way to get XP. I hunted in Qeynos Hills and then moved into Blackburrow. It's low on people generally but often you should be able to get a group and could carry you to lvl 12. You could also do as others suggested and head to Freeport. There are generally groups doing the Orc camps in East Commons and lots of people selling stuff and buffing folks at the tunnel.

Toxx Forrest is a very lonely place. If you can't find a druid that will pick you up, look for me online and I'll send one that way to escort you into the Commons. EC seems to be the easiest place to level because of the buffs in the Tunnel and the population of the zone.

glad to see you trying out the server. don't believe everything you read in that post, just have fun and don't take it incredibly seriously and you'll be good.
