Is this doable currently, in any manner?

As far as I know, only the Jboot MQ works on the classic lands. PoS quest items aren't either. Only kunark level quests on those lands.

Recently all sol ro quests were patched as MQable

I did the cleric shield as an MQ and it worked

Just don't ruin your own lands, whatever you do. People remember that stuff.
