Starting Fresh

didn't want to start a new thread at first, but looking through the first couple pages nothing really popped out at me =p perhaps even this could be a megathread for all people that are first starting on this server.

my main question is.... how difficult will it be to start a warrior as my first character on this server? are there low level groups to be had? i suppose i have no idea what the population is like on this server...

i'm migrating over from the Vulak server on EQLive. i two boxed over there, but i only did that because EVERYONE boxed... i avoided doing it for months but eventually just got too pissed off trying to find a healer for my warrior main.

i'm really stoked to be playing over here though :)

p.s. gonna be playing on blue

Starting with a warrior here is extremely hard i would say...i would go s omthing that could solo and get some cash so u can twink out your melee....but thats just me

Mage

Necro

Druid

Shammy

Enchanter

All pretty good first character choices. Even a bard can solo pretty good with minimal stuff. But if your dead stuck on being a warrior i have about 500pp i could toss your way to help you get started send tell to my in game on Tyrany

Right now, it will be tough depending on where you start. The server pop is down a bit, so finding low level groups might not be so easy. It's not impossible however. Faydark is a good starting zone, but even there it's been tough finding low level groups lately (at least for me and my alts).

East Commons is a good start spot for some grouping and getting buffs to solo for the first 10 levels and then you'll be in the neighborhood of the most popular grouping spots of nro and oasis for 10-20.

I think the main thing on this server is perseverence. Don't get discouraged right away when looking for groups, there will be some days you can't find anything and some days that you can't keep up with tells for them.

At any rate, make sure you're playing the class you want to play regardless of population. This game is only fun if you like the toon you're playing.

I have a few low level alts that can group with you too if you see me on:

Cyradil 9 Ranger
Grafalcon 8 Cleric

my plan was to start a Human or Barbarian Warrior. I soloed a lot of characters to level 15 in BlackBurrow back in the day, and i was gonna try that again.

another question: any classes lacking at the higher levels? or is this whole place just a grab bag? :)

how's the crafting-economy? anyone selling banded? (haha "WTS Banded Armor, 1AC per PP, PST :D" i'm stoked to be back :D)

TyranyT 06-03-2012 10:31 PM

server is overflowing with druids/necros/shammies/monks i would say....almost in that order even

pharmakos 06-03-2012 10:32 PM

i suppose that's not surprising :)

do you guys think Velious will ever come out on this server? if so then i'm definitely rolling a Rallos Zek worshiping Barbarian Warrior :)

edit---

yeah think i just decided... Warrior main and Necromancer alt for when i can't find a group/get frustrated soloing.

download has 10% left.

ahhh sorry i'm just excited hahaha :D

webrunner5 06-03-2012 10:40 PM

Yeah I think we will see Velious in 4 months or less. Welcome aboard.

Pick the class you want and stick with it. Don't do a lot of alts at first. You will need a main toon to farm plat and items to help on other toons down the road.

pharmakos 06-03-2012 10:51 PM

alts aren't too fun until you can twink them :)

if my main is a Warrior though a soloable alt is gonna be needed for my sanity haha

Ravager 06-03-2012 11:39 PM

If you ultimately want to play a warrior, then that's the toon you'll have the most fun with, so start with that. There is plenty of need for warriors at all levels, imo. And I think there's a good market for banded, because not a whole lot of people make it and there is somewhat of a demand for it.
