Do accounts get deleted?
 

Hi, a few months ago i stopped playing eq1999 and i was wondering if i come back to play will my account and character still be about?

My comp crashed few weeks after Kunark went live, I got back like 1 month ago. My account was still live, but all my characters were gone. I petitioned never to get any answer so I just started from scratch.

Just logged into my account that hasn't been active since early POP and all my characters/items were there. Fungi, Holgresh beads, BFG, all that fun stuff.

I had my computer die in 2010. I reinstalled on a new computer in january of this year.

My accounts were all still here.

What is eq1999? Never heard of it.

level 1 alt wipe is classic ;p

Something they could maybe consider doing, is providing a character lock. So if you are going to be going away for a few months or more, you could set your account to be locked, and then it wont get deleted. And maybe as an incentive to stop everyone locking their accounts, it could prevent you from playing too, until you get it unlocked, which could maybe take a week or something.

I've seen the same kind of thing done in another place, and it was all automated. But it would take some real effort to make. Not sure if there are enough players who take long breaks to justify it.

Yes, your characters will be saved.

I stopped playing in Dec. 2010 and just came back yesterday. Everything is still intact. :)
