TMO Exploiting Pathing? Any Punishment for TMO?

see thread: http://www.project1999.org/forums/sh...ad.php?t=68664

So purposely exploiting pathing has long been a punishable offense - why was TMO allowed to get away with it? I realize Amelinda put up a bunch of NPCs to inform people where not to fight - but she isn't going to punish the guild for using that spot as an exploit to pathing?

Discuss.

haha, this is A+. Excellent example of failed reading comprehension.

There is a very big difference between exploiting pathing and doing things that trivialize content.

I made it public because this doesn't apply only to TMO. This applies to VD and it applies to anyone else who happens to zone in and want to kill VP dragons.

The trick is to cheat with as many people as possible. Pretty much makes you immune.

Isn't an exploit in a game generally used to describe a bug or design oversight that developers did not anticipate, that players use to gain an unfair advantage?

Bug, mobs pathing through walls to get up there usually with no adds. Check
Design intent, trash/adds are supposed to be part of the challenge of the zone however using this location you can ignore much of the challenge they bring. Check
Using this location versus other locations on the floor takes out the possibility of roamers etc. Check

I'm curious how this is such a big difference from an exploit? Not that exploits here seem to be a big deal, they intentionally put back in Multi-Questing and Item Recharging via coding changing, and those are themselves exploiting original developer intent.

I see where you're going with this!! The MEM-BLUR exploit that has been ignored time and time and time again - CHECK

There is no competition for TMO why the fuck would anyone care if they are cheating anyways? VD hasn't killed a mob since 2010.

Sorry what is the difference between "exploiting pathing" and doing things that "trivialize content" - the difference is definitely not apparent. Where is the line that separates the two? You can "trivialize content" by "exploiting pathing" but the reason that "exploiting pathing" is a bannable offense is because it "trivializes content"

I definitely think it would do all players a service to have a specific thread regarding the rules with an array of examples for each rule to highlight specific cases of what constitutes an infractions. Thus when players call other players out - we can all have the same reference text of the rules so we can say things like "Players violated Rule #4-A subsection c, with a minimum punishment of 1 week ban and maximum of 1 month"

Otherwise it's just arbitrary decisions by GMs, which is not necessarily bad but we all have to acknowledge that an informal system like that causes a lot of human-error related problems. If we had a more formal framework to all work under then policing would be much easier.

I also suggest creating a running thread of all players/guilds who have received punishment by GMs and for violating what rule that way everybody is aware of the type of things players are punished for.
