Race for SK?
 

So I am determined to play an SK, as they can solo quite well and I played one previously on live. However, I am wondering what race might be best. On live, I played an Iksar SK (this was during a time when they no longer received exp penalty). I still like the idea of an Iksar--the history of the race is interesting, plus they get regen (which increases solo potential). However, my concern is the race penalty, coupled with the fact that Iksar cannot wear plate armor. Any suggestions?

I would say thre are only 3 options. Troll/Iksar/Ogre. IF you plan to play for awhile maybe iksar is your best bet. Once SoV comes out and you have planar and other quest armor. They get very stacked regen/AC

Troll = Benefit -> Regen, Detriment -> Troll/SK EXP is terribad

Iksar = Benefit -> Regen and AC, Detriment -> Cannot use Plate (mentioned above its mitigated by SoV with Ikky planar) and Iksar/SK EXP is terribad

Ogre = Benefit -> Frontal Stun Immunity, Detriment -> Being an Ogre.

Don't worry about min maxxing, just play the race you see yourself having the most fun as, wether it be, iksar, or erudite, roll it and roll with it.

Your all forgetting the best race. Erudite will be tops come Velious

If you're talking stats/racial benefits, this. This is pretty much all there is.

If you do a composite comparison of all the relevant melee skills (with or without numerical weighting to STR/STA), Troll and Ogre are by FAR the best SK's.

However, having an attractive character is important for a lot of people. Erudites and Humans look pretty cool in full Blood Ember/Planar. Iksar look pretty cool in their Velious setup too.

I solo yellows.

So any suggestions on where to fight to level faster and solo more easily? I am thinking 1-15 Field of Bone, 15-25 or 30ish Kurns' Tower, not sure where to head after that...

For min/max purposes, any class that can be an ogre should be an ogre.

I like ogre for stun resists and whatnot,never actually played an SK but if you're gonna be tanking stun resists are pretty legit.
