Buying a new computer.
Hey guys,
I am looking to buy myself a new gaming computer, I was wondering if you guys had any specific suggestions other than newegg, cyberpowerpc, tigerdirect etc. Obviously I know not to go to bestbuy for shit like that lol. My budget is 6-700 dollars wondering if I can get a decent rig for that much. Again any help or direction would be welcome, Thank you. |
You didn't say if you wanted to buy one pre-built or if you wanted to build one yourself. I recommend building one. I haven't done it myself, waiting until next year. I hear it's something that just seems immensely complicated before you do it, but after you realize it wasn't so difficult. It's also cheaper than getting one pre-built.
Here's a couple links if you are interested in building it yourself. A recent post on MMO-Champion with builds of varying prices. The Build A PC subreddit. Don't forget to check out the Beginners Guide, Resources and Related sections on the right side. |
Get the following:
- Antec gaming Three Hundred case - Cooler master 450-600w PSU - AMD A8-3870K Quad Core 3.0GHz Unlocked APU - 4GB dual chan memory Kit 1600MHZ is a must. Cheapest kit you can find, usually G.skill - Any FM1 mobo (ASUS is good, Biostar is good for the price) - WD Black 1TB or more Hard Drive (depending on your budget) - AMD 6670 1GB Video Card (get fanless if possible) Make sure to set crossfire mode on once Win7/Drivers are installed. You'll have a budget machine that can out perform most i5 builds. Above should cost roughly $600... unfortunately cost of hard drives have more than doubled so might want to consider a 120GB SSD drive. You'll lose the extra storage but gain read/write access. |
