Switch to Windowed

is there a way to change from full screen back to windowed mode from within the eqclient file rather than in-game?

i switched to full screen in game, it froze, now I am unable to launch the game. after server log-in it errors saying "cannot read memory"

thanks!

There is a line in the client but I can't remember what it is specifically. Something like WindowedMode = NO or something.

Edit: Looked it up

WindowedMode=FALSE

tnx guys, for the help thus far. i've learned a bit, but no fix yet.

i've used duxa to change resolution and the error remained. i've hard coded the game resolution to match my actual resolution and the error remains.

what i believe is happening is that the game is starting in full screen mode and for some reason i cannot switch it to windowed. here is my eqclient script. see anything wrong with this?

WindowedMode=TRUE

[VideoMode]
WindowedWidth=1680
WindowedHeight=945
Width=1680
Height=945
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
FullscreenRefreshRate=0

Try wineq2, make sure to run it as administrator so it can update

i may try that app as a last case. the game was running fine in windowed before i switched to full screen though. i'd just like to get it back to where it was.

If it's starting in Full Screen mode, you're F'd with a FullscreenRefreshRate of 0. Go into your display control panel and see what refresh rates are available for 1680x945 resolution, and try setting FullscreenRefreshRate to that value. Mine is 85 in my .ini file.

I assume it worked then?

well i've limped back in using work arounds. matching to 60 actually caused it to crash before the mem read error spot. i read that some windows 7 machines have an actual 59 hz b/c that's better for using the monitor for streaming TV. setting of 59 was odd...i was able to pass all the errors and make it to the char select screen. but the chars were the "spells out of date, please visit project 1999" ...just to make sure i went ahead and reloaded all the junk, same outcome. so then i tried messing with other refreshes...tried 30, tried 90, some odd ones. results were a mixed bag between crashing early or getting to the out of date spells char select screen. then i took a nap. i went back to duxa and fiddled around until i got something to work. my prob with duxa was that the launcher was crashing so i was using duxa to adjust settings, then using my eqgame short cut to launch, which produced the same issue over and over...launching in full screen. well i tried launching duxa in admin mode and viola, it goes....and it also started in windowed mode...and now i'm in the game and playing. so to sum it up, the issue still exists if i launch with eqgame.exe but if i launch with duxa's eqemu launcher (in admin mode) then it goes. /boggle

thanks agains for your help yendor, and everybody. everyone's input ultimately led to the multi-fix that i have going lol.
