Burned out Lightstones

Burned Out Lightstones (from willowisps) are entirely too common.

And you concluded this how?

http://eq.magelo.com/npc/2639
http://eq.magelo.com/npc/407576
http://eq.magelo.com/npc/226021
http://eq.magelo.com/npc/100021
http://eq.magelo.com/npc/521
http://eq.magelo.com/npc/77918
http://eq.magelo.com/npc/6241

My findings conclude that I am 2-4% more generous with greater lightstones than I should be and that burned out lightstones drop less on p99 than they do on eqlive. /shrug.

I farmed Lightstones in 1999, and on most of my live characters in the teens from 1999-2002.

I farmed them on P99 back in 2010

I farmed them on red 99 last week.

Nilbog is right, the drops are slightly better than live.

Originally there were no Burnt out Lightstones. That was only added later. They should be removed if its to be true to era.

I will say i find the drop rates fair regardless.

Burned out lightstones were in many months before kunark release, and I remember being annoyed at how often they dropped. Don't see why the complaints here.

While this is true, I doubt they will remove them.

Originally there was no quest involving lightstones.

When they added the quests for research tomes, they added burned out lightstones, so that every kill di not result in a quest turn in ( balance ).

They were added about 3 months after release. I do not see them removing it just to re add it later. Its not that huge of a deal.

If anything they don't drop enough. Every willowisp should either have a burned out, regular, or greater lightstones. Sometimes willowisps on this server are empty!

I noticed this as well, however its pretty rare to get nothing, maybe 1 in 25 kills or so

That's the problem with adhering too closely to magelo drop rates. You usually have to convert the percentages up to reach 100%, because things that drop 100% never display 100% on magelo, due to some flaw in their data collection.

Tallying up all of the lightstone drops I get a total of 1442 recorded lightstone drops of any type, and percentages that round cleanly off to:

Burned out: 67%
Lightstone: 23%
Greater: 10%
