Pre-Luclin wizard spell damage and resists from Graffe Forum
Some guy wrote a Wizard PvP guide on Tallon Zek during Velious and there's a bunch of other wizards from PvP servers responding in the thread:
http://www.graffe.com/forums/showthr...ead-and-Learn& Here are quotes from it, the first is the most important since it's an actual parse from March 19, 2002. The resist system should be identical to Classic/Kunark/Velious at that point in time. The patch to alter resists didn't occur till September 2002 (as referenced in this safehouse thread: http://thesafehouse.org/forums/showthread.php?t=7879 ) Wiz damage parse: Quote:
The following quotes are Pre-Luclin in 2001: Quote:

Most of my memory might be from the post SoL change they did. I can't remember.
I played a mage and never got any casts off that much anyways; people would just run out of range before it landed. With the shitty pets and spells easily resisted I won't play mage again. They rely mainly on their pet but they do ass for dmg now since they got over-nerf'd. |
edit : moved post to top

Thanks for the info, was a good read. If we end up going that route it will be useful.

I killed Lightadam and Ace with 2 sunstrikes in the wizard BotB. Sunstrike and Ice comet would do more damage than lures until Luclin arrived.
Himaru: "i have sunstrike land consistantly for 1k or more on fully buffed druids. Other night I took out best pally on server fully buffed WITH a level 60 cleric in 7 casts, 3 sunstrikes 2 lures. She had Aego and fully buffed- you do the math." Sunstrike and Ice comet had a different resist table than the draught line and ice spear. Lures didn't have a resist check at all until the revamp (95% chance to land). I dueled Ostrik a dozen or so times and it always came down to me spamming sunstrike against his ice comet (he didn't have sunstrike through velious). Once a wizard learns how to channel through the shock of lightning push back and move out of a rain Sunstrike and Ice comet were the best damage. |

I was best geared monk on SZ before quitting and used a Stone of Morid and didn't have astronomical FR or anything. Pretty sure mine was like 120 and paladins don't get Stone of Morid. Quote:

Shock of lightning didn't interrupt as reliably 50+ or maybe even 40+. It was sure fire up until 40 unless they inched forwards (pvp spoiler).
I'd say I'd agree on comet resists. It was sometimes but rarely full, then it was like 100 or full 700. Hitting yourself should do full damage. Tears of druzzil was so "all or nothing" it wasnt even funny. Even tho it was a 1 hit kill on most nakeds. I think draughts had a better resist check than things like ice comet, but I can't confirm that, I just remember them hitting better than my usual pre 50 stuff. I never resisted mana sieve or theft of thought to my recollection, never rapture either. Encs with 150+mr even when tashed, yeah, not too bad at all. Then again, RZ being item loot, yeah well I'll not get into my merits for that in big guild v guild for enchanters up in here. |
