After the reward re-vamp (which has already occurred on this server), the reward then became (comments):

and the Amulet of the Void did not require a Cloudy Stone of Veeshan to use the effect.

i looked for hard evidence (since maybe that is necessary as it's the one missing quest on the wiki) of this quest going in at the same time as the others, but was unable to find any. i also couldn't find any evidence about the item being upgraded at a later time as well (nothing in google, nothing on patch archives, nothing on eq database site archives). earliest date i could find of it's existence was early 2002 on magelo, showing up in the database before several of the other upgraded items though. given the rarity of 2/3 of the quest items and the regular release of expansion content keeping people busy back then on live, it may have just been possible that no one saw the upgraded version until much later.

it also wouldn't really make much sense that they just upgraded this one specific item later with basically a 5int boost either. it would've been very obsolete once velious hit regardless.

anyway, that's all i've got for this.

so it's pretty difficult to find anything on this item other than it's initial entry on websites (magelo - 2002, lucy - 2005, alla - 2007) but i did some sort of comparative visual basic gui interface crap to help provide context clues of when it was implemented. using the magelo database (which has the earliest entry for most of the upgraded sky reward items), i looked up all the initial entry dates of all the upgraded items that required a piece off of the sister of spire (island 7). those items/dates are as follow:

thelvorn, blade of light - oct 29, 2001
vemilion sky ring - nov 27, 2001
wu's fist of mastery - dec 16, 2001
amulet of the void - apr 7, 2002
spiroc banisher focus - aug 23, 2002
band of wailing winds - nov 18, 2002
arydryidriyorn - may 19, 2003

as you can see, the amulet of the void lands smack in the middle of the seven upgraded items for their initial entry date on magelo. this would certainly make it seem like it was one of the items implemented with the jul 19, 2000 sky item upgrade patch.

and for comparison's sake of initial entries of the original reward and the upgraded reward:
amulet of planar transference (original reward) - march 10, 2002
amulet of the void (upgraded reward) - apr 7, 2002

it also appears the upgraded version did require a cloudy stone of veeshan to use the effect, the requirement was only removed at a late time when a lot of items stopped requiring regeants to use.

that's about all i can find. hopefully you guys take a look at this and decide it's enough evidence that it should be in the game currently.
