Kunark Weapon Dmage
Did it change in Kunark?
I made a thread last year asking a lot of questions regarding damage, and how it's calculated, but I recently came back and made a monk. My monk just hit level 10 and has a 23/28 2hb, but is only doing 28 max damage with my 2hb skill capped for my level. I assumed that I'd be hitting for 40 at level 10 because of weapon damage x2 but there is of course a cap of 40 damage before 20. So did anything change with Kunark? Or is it just something I'm missing? Thanks for the info! |
Someone can probably link you to the official word on this, but I just went through levels 1-19 with the exact same weapon, so let me tell you my experience. Levels 1-9 max hit was 20, level 10 I started hitting for 28 max. I am 19 now, at 18 I started seeing very very rare 29 and 30s, rare enough to make me suspicious that my client is reporting it wrong. Based on my research in these forums I expect to start hitting max of 46 at 20.

I guess it did change with Kunark... or at least it has changed since I quit and came back. Well that's good to know. So then the question arises... DW CoTs on monk or Wu's Quivering... Even at low level it seems like hitting for 5 less with the CoTs but with a chance to hit with offhand is better than only ever hitting for 28 until levels 18 or so.
So CoTs = 23 damage at level 10 at 25 delay + chance of DW offhand damaage vs. Wu's Quivering = 28 damage max and 28 delay |
Go with the CoTs just keep your 2hb skill up.

Your damage cap will be lifted at 20 I believe and then higher damage weapons will start to pay off.

Level 18 is when you start to occasionally hit a little bit above the dmg*2 cap. That bonus grows a little level by level, independently of the actual damage bonus stat.
