If Project '99 ever had to come down..
 

How would you feel? Sad? Ironically relieved?

I'm pretty sure I would be downright sad because the only known and well done replication of classic EQ (as we all loved it most) would be gone, forever. Would the devs release the database and code after all of that hard work for us to download? How could it be preserved? How many of you would download it if they did just to play it alone from time to time or to just know that you have it? What if EQEmu were to come down?

Could you ever let go of Classic EverQuest? Discuss.

I felt ironic relief.

I guess I'd finally have time to go outside and see for myself this "Sun" thing everyone keeps telling me about... As long as my muscles aren't completely atrophied by then.

I would be saddened.

I feel that Project 1999 is too important in people's lives that if it did spontaneously combust overnight it'd have sort of an oink's pink palace effect. It wouldn't take long for new classic servers to spring up. Unfortunately this can go one of two ways: a) You end up with a bunch of lame small classic servers or more probably, b) you'd see a joint collaborative effort and the next project could even be better than the previous ala what.cd

Suicide hotlines would be ringing off the hook for days.
