Possible option to compile my own dsetup.dll?

I know this is a long shot, but I figure I'll ask anyway.

I'm currently running a Windows 98 SE system that I'd like to be able to access the Green/Blue/Red servers. Currently, the patched DSETUP.dll that's included is built for a newer version of Windows. I'd be interested in having a version of this file built for a Windows 9x environment (not sure if the current would work under KernelEX or anything). I also realize that asking a busy dev team to support a very old OS/dependencies for 1 or 2 people isn't very realistic either. So...

Is there a path to allow someone to compile their own dll? Are there issues with this(proprietary code baked in, other env setup, etc)? Is there a path to allow a "use at your own risk" to have this kind of support?
