Does it make sense for Druids to kill Gnomes?

When I was a little kid I would get upset because I would see Druids frequently camping the Gnome guards in Steamfont around the clock, and I couldn't understand it. Druids are supposed to be the good guys, and gnomes are good people ! So why are they killing each other?

But then when I got older it made more sense. Gnomes represent Technology, and Drudis represent Nature. Would the two not be natural enemies?

Totally agree, the mechanical constructs a a sick parody of natural life. 100% plenty of fanatical druids would see things this way. Especially with all the harm strip mining, heavy metal contamination, etc can do to the environment.

yeah, those druids are playing correctly.

the cliché way to play a Druid in DnD was as an eco-terrorist who is willing to commit slaughter and genocide in order to protect nature, officially they could only be true neutral alignment, but it was in the zeitgeist so much that in Baldur's Gate 1 there is a faction of evil druids

Quote:

Shadow Druids are a druidic cult which believes that nature should drive out civilization with violence. They are active along the Sword Coast with bases of operations in the Cloakwood Forest and the Druid Grove.

It makes sense narratively—Druids valuing nature might see Gnome technology as a threat, creating a natural conflict.
