I think if he played it and gave it a chance he would love it, but he's convinced himself that the older slower mmos are bad, even though in the same breath he claims that classic wow is the best game ever made.

Anyone I know who has played both agrees that P1999/ original EQ was a far superior game (this includes people who are in their 20s), and the changes that Blizzard brought in pretty much watered down the game. Apart from the combat/ raid set up (I am not necessarily talking about instancing, but the actual partying for a raid etc.)

There's also Josh Stryfe Hayes who has a big following but he always seems to play live EQ even though he's mentioned he will give P99 a shot at one point.
