Item purchase rate limit and stack poof
 

Hello - I was buying some Star Ruby to carry around on monk for port tips today and buying them quickly.

The game booted me i guess as a protection feature but in the process also at the platinum spent and the stack of gems purchased and pre-existing that the new purchases were stacking onto.

Pretty sure you are screwed here. As I understand it in the early days people 'rapid clicked' buying stacks which essentially allowed them to buy extra stacks they didn't have the money to buy. This lead to excess plat inflation in early server, bannings, etc. That is why they added the feature that boots you after rapid clicking a vendor for stacks of items.

As a protection feature, you get booted and some of the purchases may be lost.

As a staff policy, they never reimburse vendor transactions.

Yep not looking for reimbursement, mainly just reporting in case the item loss was unintended and maybe preventable with a fix

Its been reported a few times over the years. Dont think theres been a dev response

Just to clarify the issue: Instead of coding a proper backend solution, such as concurrent db transactions, they instead implemented a solution which punishes the player for simply the interacting with their game. Par for the course around here.

Tell us more about your EQemu coding prowess. How would you resolve this duplication issue?

Perhaps there is a complicated client issue causing a desync between client server that is difficult to fix and this is as good a solution as can be done for now.

What's even worse is that surely most of these people are now pushing 40 if not 50. You expect this from teenagers not grown men.

But nothing surprises me anymore.
