First magic weapon for a Shaman?
 

i'd like to start hunting wisps soon, but need something besides my tarnished spear and whatnot... anyone have a suggestion for a cheap magic weapon for a shaman? between my duo buddy and i we have around 40pp and maybe that much in bone chips as well.

Cold Iron Morning Star is cheap and a good start for a Shaman. Haven't seen it sold as much since Kunark hit, though. You can always hit up North Ro for bone chips; tons of decaying skeletons there. If I were you, I'd just sit in EC for a while and browse; you're bound to find something cheap relatively quickly.

For your *first weapon, buy something fast or heavy on stats you need.

Fast - If it's your first weapon, you'll need more attack attempts to expedite your skill increases.

Stats - If you can find something which some Mana, Hp etc go for it.

Think mine was Water Crystal Staff. Webclaw found me while I was catching my breath on the island with 3 birds in Lake Rathetear.

Get the Tainted Battleworn Morningstar from undead clerics in Kith. 7/30 6 wis, magic. No drop, so you'll have to find a nice high lvl player to kill one for you.

Fang of the wolf? The one you make with all those blackburrow pelts... Takes like 4 stacks of 16 I think, if you don't fail any combines. If you start in blackburrow at lvl 5 you should have enough to make it by 8-10.

If you are a Barbarian Shaman, complete the Initiate Symbol of Justice quest. You get a necklace with like, +1 Wis, +3 mana, and a click effect of "Summon: Hammer of Wrath" which is a 1HB weapon with the MAGIC tag on it. That's what I used until I obtained something better.

Outside of that, I'd do what others have suggested and just sit in EC for a bit and wait for something to be thrown up for sale. Maybe you'll get lucky and get something for cheap.
