Starter Mage Gear?
 

Hey all, my Mage is level 19 and still running around in raw silk with summoned weapons. I have accumulated about 600 plat so far, and I'm looking to buy some decent starter gear. What are some items I should keep my eyes open for in /auction?

https://wiki.project1999.com/Equipping%20a%20Magician has some good stuff, although the page could use some more love (to be more like the shaman/druid ones).

As mentioned previously, focus items are far and large going to be your biggest improvement right now. They aren't too expensive, but you could farm them with the 34 pets.

After that mages don't really have much more for significant upgrades. Our pets do the same damage regardless of our gear, mana just lets you chain more of them before needing to med. Try to gather things for your epic while you level and save up. While we lack certain CC's that allow us to take over particularly difficult camps, with a little ingenuity you can find ways to print money that other classes cannot which leads to little in the way of competition.

Probably Hp gear and jboots until manapool is a dealbreaker (mainly for coths). At some point leveling up on a spawn or two even the largest gas tank give you the same med time. More mana is just more emergency nuking to fall back on for longer med breaks.

Pack jboots and some crystalline root nets. Those will save you more than anything. That and gnome-wall-vision.
