New here; Chanter or Bard...

So its been a long time since I EQ'ed it up. Played on Quellious, then moved to Bristlebane where I remained. I came back to live EQ a few times for the progression servers, but that only lasted about 3 months. Glad P99 is here. Time for some fun grinding and nostalgia.

With that, who shall i be? Chanter or Bard...

As a crack addict, I say enchanter

If you don't have loads of bard experience, probably not a bard. I'm just so sick of bad bards :P Even a bad enchanter can still haste / clarity and do some mezzing...bad bards just seem to fumble about dying not accomplishing much. As a bard you may often be asked to pull as well, and if you don't know the zones, it can be brutal to pull them.

You as a chanter means more bard loot for me.

Bards are a much more demanding class. I personally think you have to be a bit of a masochist to constantly be twisting four songs. Go enchanter.

I love what a bard can do and every once in awhile I'll hop on mine and try to level it for a bit. I always quit because I can't imaging having to be hitting 2 buttons every 2 seconds.

Although constantly switching spellsets and spamming canni at this point doesn't seem all that far off from bard work....

If song twisting consists of more than 1 button per 3 seconds, you're doing it wrong.

I personally don't like using the /stop /cast macro. I found it easier to double tap. Same reason I don't use a macro to canni: personal preference.

And that's why you don't play your bard much. :P

lol no. I would bet there are plenty of people here who main bards who choose to double-tap rather than rely on macros.

Quickly double tapping is no more difficult than hitting one button. It's the constantly having to have 3-4 songs twisting that I don't like. If I want to miss a few ticks of canni then that isn't a problem, but as a bard you can't be letting crucial things like resist songs drop for even a tick.

Fact is, even if macros weren't in the game, people who wanted to play bards would still play bards, and people who didn't enjoy it would not. It is a completely different play style and the ability to turn 2 quick keystrokes into one keystroke does not significantly change it.
