It's not just addiction, it's also boredom. We have to do something, we have no choice. We have to breath oxygen even if it's polluted.

The superior choice, reality, has become less accessible than it should be, and virtual reality, the inferior choice, has become more accessible.

So now we pay a 2nd rate god to sit in his virtual forest instead of sitting in a real forest which is free.
