Necromancer Raid Role

So I couldn't find any topics on this, and seeing as my necro's about to turn 46 it's about time to ask...

What is the typical role of a necromancer in a raid? Twitchbot/pet damage?

yez

emergency mezzing, maybe training and FDing stuff. Can pull if you're feeling randy.

Mana Battery and DMF for gravity flux/poison resist. Then you can AFK. You're useless after that.

I suppose you can /pet attack, cause you know that 9dps is gonna really gonna put your raid over the top when its close.

Seriously, re-roll a useful raid character before it's too late.

All you need to raid is Warriors, clerics, monks, a shaman, and a few wizards. Maybe a mage mod rods. You can invite the rogues back after backstab is unfucked (lol)

Every other class is second rate at filling a spot that could go to a real tank, healer/buffer or DPS.

Edit: or go P99 style and invite 40 mages and just chain-pet the fucker down. Haha.

^ some of the dumbest stuff I've read on these forums.

Raiding without mana-classes (Bard, Nec, Enc) = Just uninstall.

Necromancers role in a raid is to DPS with your pet & lifetaps, provide mana for clerics/enchanters via twitch, provide spot heals via shadowbond/pact of shadow. Your heals are so efficient it's insane, you can drop shadowbond on a person to heal them for 500 then while it's ticking cast pact of shadow on 2 other people to heal each of them for 320 each and then lifetap back the drained heal with 2 spells. Costing you a total of 420 mana while doing 1120 points of healing and 650 points of damage. All while you're pet is cruising away at 30-40dps (we've parsed it against spiroc lord, lvl 59 necropets will hit 30-40dps against it).

Depending on your level and where you're raiding you can ghetto mez with screaming terror, or else just root mobs off, but you shouldn't ever need to do that unless you're really low on enchanters.

And don't listen to quellren, pet DPS is great on raids, they never pull agro so you can sick them on the mob as soon as your tank starts hitting it without fear, so it can start dpsing 5-10seconds sooner and never have to hide/feign/diebecauseittookhate.

It's obvious that Quellren has never played a necro, or if he has he is an absolutely god aweful one and that he's never been grouped with a good necro either.

yes.

The reason that necromancers are astounding raiders is that they have some of the the highest dps at the absolute lowest rates of resist in the game, making them utterly irreplacable against high-resist mobs such as RAID TARGETS.

And if you wipe, guess who's saving your ass from a difficult CR?

Necromancers are the raid's Swiss Pocket Knife, along with Bards.
