Played this game for 20+ years and never knew...
 

Until last night that rogues could pick pocket items while in a group. Hahaha, then I went down a rabbit hole reading about the critical fail msg and kicking them from groups.

Cannot believe I've made it this long...only found out because I was in a group where our rotation item was dropping way less than normal and my buddy mentioned that he used to pick pocket the item on his rogue.

I guess I always assumed pick pocketing was limited to garbage items/pocket change and did not affect loot tables. :)

It is kind of cool though, honestly.

Yeah, I agree and gives Rogues an additional thing to do while stabbing kidneys. Most rogues I've met in P99 let you know if they are doing it, but I remember back in live it was a pretty common thing to invite a Rogue into the group with the disclaimer of "you can practice pick pocket but you need to share gems, loot, etc. you may find".

i remember pickpocketing planar gems from fear golems on daxums vztz server (long before p99) on eq emu.

everyone wondered why the gems stoped droping while i made a fortune selling them.
