Getting Error 1017

Hello all, I'll try and make this short and sweet.

I have played P99 on this PC, but took a break before Velious dropped on green (just mentioning because I'm not sure if this plays a part). I play on Green, but whenever I try and login I can get through my Username/Password and select a server. I get pulled back to login screen, if I try to log in again immediately (In the Username/Password section) I get the 1017 error. It doesn't matter what server I try to join, it is the same issue.

How can I fix this problem so I can play again?

It has been almost a year since Velious on Green. Perhaps a reinstall might be warranted.
Have you tried a reinstall and patch with the latest P99 patch? If you do, don't forget to backup any screenshots or character.ini if you want to save that information.

Just curious, what is your processor speed? I've had similar problems when my proc is clocked over 4k.

Fix?

Was there ever a fix for this? I've never messed with the clock speed, so I'm not overclocked. My internet went out DC'd me and I've been getting this error ever since. I've done a complete reinstall and was able to log in but crashed on zone and am back to getting the error again. Not sure what to do now.

Couple things I can think of :

- Check the time and date of your computer, make sure it's up to date.

- Try clearing the DNS cache (if windows: ipconfig /flushdns).

- If using a VPN (hardware, software, browser addon), try temporarily not using the VPN to log in to the game or forums.

Lastly, see if you can log into one of the other non-project1999 EQemu servers on the list (PEQ for example) and make a character and zone w/o crashing just to see if you get the same issue.

What I just read is it's due to CPU clock speeds above 4.0 ghz due to some speed hacking checks unique to P99.

That's just strange to me I've never overclocked this laptop and have played on and off on it for over 6 months. I also read that but I don't think my clock speed is getting that high.

Yea just checking my CPU clock speed in task manager its barely getting above 2.
