Unfortunately, the pool of people willing to RP a 23 year old classic elf sim is not very large.

I bumped into someone RP’ing on green

I forgot what he said, something about laughing when I die, after I tried striking up a friendly conversation. I was thinking “man this guy is a colossal dick” but just tried to continue to be nice, figuring maybe he was just socially awkward. Then I realized he was staying completely in character: he was a dark elf, I was a high elf, our races are enemies

Bravo, to one of the last RP’ers around. I did not RP back because nah, feels weird, plus I was already out of character

Edit: oh one other time I buffed (as I always do, all noobs get a full array of buffs) some lowbie dark elf in Nektulos and she said something like “You bring great pride to the race of Tier’Dal”. And I wanted to say yknow I’m a high elf I just use DE illusion so the guards don’t bother me, but didn’t. She was serious enough she might have clicked off the buffs lol

Most so called roleplayers on EQ are people who think that using babytalk/doggo-speak while playing an ogre or troll = "roleplaying".
