Would you be more inspired to start/continue on green if you knew it wasn't merging?

Yes.

I started a character in May hoping to get some Elder beads, but now that I'll never get them (I can't do 30 straight hour camps) the QoL changes and clogged raid scene make it not as enticing as blue.

Honestly I'm still only playing on Green right now because I have more in wealth here (plus a box of abu-kar) and because my sister has her one and only decently leveled character here. Atm, if I were to roll a new character, Blue looks far more appealing with their lower population, more relaxed atmosphere, and occasional open raids.

Not really. The merge isn’t what has me playing on Blue sometimes now. It’s the simple fact that they are almost at the same stage of progression so there’s not much motivation to play on Green the entire time since I can experience almost all of the same content on Blue.

Even if Green didn’t merge you still have essentially the same problem of it being “all for naught” at the end of the day when they start a new Green.

Merge makes sense. Two time locked dead servers does not.

I have no issues with the 'all for naught' thing. When they make a new Green, I will make a new character, and I'll do it all over again. Different class, different race, different persona.

Yeah I mean these servers basically end, so it makes sense to archive your work on blue and you can play at max level with whatever you had for as long as you like and continue to raid and adventure there, and then if you want to do the Journey part again, do it again on the new server. No reason not to.
