Fire Spiral of Al'Kabor

I am not sure if this is a bug or an oversight, but Fire Spiral of Al'Kabor does 71 AOE damage for 150 mana at lvl 20, while Pillar of Fire does 76 AOE damage for 84 mana at lvl 16. The lvl 20 version has 0.2 seconds longer cast time.

Not a bug. Al'Kabor was a terrible wizard.

If I remember right the Pilliars line hits 4 targets max, just like snare. And Al'kabor's hits 5 or 6 targets, but resnaring 6 mobs as a wizard doesn't work right. Since you'll resnare your group and it's sorta random which guys get snared. So Al'kabor's line of spell was never really used.

I cannot fathom a time that would render that anything more than useless... for such little damage it's more of a toy spell. I think I roamed around low level zones RPing and handing out items to newbies, using Al'Kabor based spells for the emotes and special effects. Never EVER would I consider it for anything other than that.. Al'Kabor is dumb.

Spells of the Al'kabor line has a much larger radius, that's about it. No, it's not worth them doing half the damage of pillar.

Seems pointless, maybe the devs could make them more useful. I know it wouldn't be classic, but maybe Wizards could get something non-uesless.

Scroll down to Rawlden's post:

Aye. Part of the nerf was to reduce the radius a bit, limit damage to 5 targets (instead of all mobs within the radius), and reduce the damage. However, they did NOT reduce the mana cost.
They were apparently different before some nerf.
