DEF SK Ring of 'The Dead' factioning
 

As a current 52 Dark Elf Shadow Knight on Green, I've set upon raising faction with 'The Dead' in order to recharge 'The Ring of the Dead' through Xantis Ixtax in Neriak. After reading up on threads here and wiki, I began slaughtering Hondo Hyzill the Gnome outside Ak'Anon. I do receive faction increase messages each time from The Dead, but after intermittently checking in with Xantis, and beginning with Amiable faction, well over 100 kills has yet to improve faction standing to even Kindly. Even if Zondo is only worth a +5 faction, based upon the wiki mechanics, I should have broken through Amiable.

Is there perhaps a DEF SK or other Race/Class that has achieved Warmly faction standing with The Dead that can provide insight? Should I continue this course or try another route? I may provide updates here if my faction quest progresses. Thanks in advance!

Most positive faction hits are only +1 despite what values are present on the wiki.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll be giving the Thex Mallet quest some run soon. I did read that wiki faction points listed aren't always correct. I began my ritual Gnome slaughtering under the assumption it was +10 each kill, and figured it wouldn't be too daunting if so. Then scaled back my expectations to +5, but it would seem +1 is the dafter assumption now. Any idea how much each Thex Mallet quest completion might give in faction?

As someone whose very first experience as a sparkly new baby gnome necro was being ganked by that fucker all I can say is thank you!

'The Dead' Faction kills and quests
Approximately 150 Zondo Hyzill kills
2 'Sir Lindeal's Testimony' completions
1 'Fire Beetle Eyes' completion
7 'Thex Mallet' completions

Still at 'Amiable' faction. Will attempt another Thex Mallet quest, then perhaps try a different NPC kill for faction. If still at Amiable after that, I will abandon this faction quest.

Buy Fire Beetle Eyes. Shout that you will buy them from new players in newbie zones.

Qeynos entrance Vendors. Misty/Rivervale vendors. North Karana vendor near WK.

It will take hundreds depending on your current faction. Hope you have a druid or wizard buddy.

Buy all of them. So arrive with empty backpacks. Its going to take many trips.

Also these trips take plave over a few weeks because vendors will not always have them.

Quakes and vendor resets will have a new meaning for you.

Despite all that. It's the fastest way.

Thanks, I will try and vendor scavenge more. I've actually recently started buying the eyes from noobs and killing beetles a bit myself. 4 Fire Beetle Eyes' turn ons now to date.
Also, I've now complete 10 Thex Mallet quest and still Amiable. Does this make sense for a dark elf sk that started with Amiable. No one seems to know how much faction any of these kills or quests give.

SITREP: Breakthrough to 'Kindly'!
As Dark Elf SK beginning at 'Amiable' faction with no known negative faction hits, this is approximately what it has taken to reach 'Kindly' faction.
Approximately 150 Zondo Hyzill kills
10 'Thex Hammer' quests
Approximately 15 'Fire Beetle Eyes' quests
2 'Sir Lindeal's Testimony' quests
I list some of these as approximate, because I got somewhat demoralized farther down the road.

I will make an effort to track what it takes to, hopefully, go from Kindly to Warmly faction, as Xantis Ixtaz still will not discuss recharging The Ring with me at Kindly.
Hopefully this thread helps others who take on this endeavor.
