How noticeable is Human night-blindness

If I turn up the gamma, can I still see?

Jimjam 02-03-2021 09:33 AM

Suck it and see (or not, if it is night time).

It's vastly over-dark compared to classic, and the other races advantages not nearly as "better".

But give it a shot; it doesn't bother everyone. Gamma does help, IMO.

https://wiki.project1999.com/Glowing_Stone_Band is a cheap solution. I use 'em on my human toons during the night.

Adjusting the gamma doesn't do anything (at least on my computer). I believe it has been disabled server side?

Human night blindness is brutal. I regret having made my bard a human. As a test you should make a human in FP, run to EC and ask a Mage for a coldstone, wait until midnight and equip and unequip the necklace. The difference is STARK. Infravision makes night time playable, Ultravision trivializes it. Night blindness nearly makes the game unplayable. Good luck with your CR at night time.

Playing an erudite I can tell you that wandering around at night is pretty damn fun for me. I also have a ton of playtime, so navigating using the sky and zone walls is doable for me.

Running from Western commonlands to eastern karanas I can tell you that I had to STOP because I was unable to discern where the large drop was without a light source.

You will be seeking light sources, sources of infravision/ultravision.

If this doesn't appeal to you as a gameplay element, avoid it. It is very noticeable.

If I wasn't such a pepega I would just have done screenshots, but I was just doing a quick personal assessment one night and took some pics with my phone. Obviously there is screen glare, etc. But, this may be helpful to see the difference.

Here's an album I put together a while back showing a human monk on green with nothing, a greater light stone, and a glowing stone band:

It's much better with infravision, but ultravision is far better than infra and basically makes night nonexistent.

Edit - Ride the Spiral beat me to it but you can clearly see how beneficial ultravision is.

It's not to bad if you can get a hold of a cold stone.

Erudite night blind-ness navigating to a zone line with no light source.
