Good Gear to go for Shaman?
 

Any good gear for starter Shamans?

Please specify blue or green, race also helps. There's a pretty big gap for instance between Iksar on blue or Barb on green. Also, twink or not? Budget would help with suggstions.

I just started a Shaman on Green so I've been looking into this myself.

What I've settled on (only level 14 so far - and my other toon is 24, so not a lot of plat):

Full set of Banded Armor (80-90pp) to cover your armor/AC needs
2x Platinum Fire Wedding Ring (225 - 250pp ea)
Staff of the Observers (150-200pp)

So far I only have one ring but my understanding is those will be good until end game.

If you start by Grobb, high level players are constantly killing the guards and letting their necklaces & shields rot. Each sells for about 2pp and it's an easy way to raise money for banded armor. I had 100pp by the time I was getting ready to leave the swamp. You can also use some of that money to buy a half-way decent weapon from a vendor (Great Staff + Spear is what I did).

It seems like we're in a bit of limbo equipment-wise until Kunark opens up so your budget weapon options are limited. Staff of the Observers was the best option I found for Classic era. After Kunark we should have more choices: Slime Coated Harpoon, Howling Harpoon, PWC etc.

After saving up for another +55hp ring, I will probably look for 2x Jasper Gold Earring (+3 WIS - 25pp ea).
