Login Issues - C'mon, they're classic!
 

Unknown Error, cannot login.

P99 plagued with random login issues for 10+ years. It shows their commitment to a true "like-classic" environment of everyone running 28k/56k dial-up.

Do you realize there's a tech support forum just a few inches above the green discussion forum? Believe it or not there's even some helpful guides to get you through the unknown error thing.

Yes, I am aware of the tech forum, and I have used the tech forum.

The Answer™ for most login issues is:
(1) Run in admin mode
(2) Run in compatibility mode. Try SP1, SP2, etc.
(3) Restart computer
(4) Restart internet
(5) Use VPN
(6) Reinstall EQ / repatch
(7) Change your driver setup and/or reinstall windows

This Solution™ never permanently solves the problem. Every so often it turns up again and you just use The Solution™ one more time for another few day to few months of no problems.

Had it happen twice 2 days in a row. This gave me time outside of Norrath to reflect on how this is "classic-like" so I wanted to write a quick props thread on it.
