Holding CTRL and TURN enables strafe

I am having an issue related to a movement mechanic in game. When you hold down CTRL on the keyboard and you turn to look either LEFT or RIGHT at the same time your character strafes. Why is this a problem? Because I have bound several in game keyboard shortcuts to CTRL and when I engage a mob for instance, cast, and then turn to look at the mob, if the CTRL command is pressed the strafe command moves my character and interrupts my casting. This is an annoying feature that for some reason seems to be coded into the EQ client and I cannot figure out how to unbind it.

Anyone have any ideas for a work around or have experienced this?

Sounds like you are using the keyboard to turn left/right. You can use the mouse to turn and it will not strafe

You are right, if I use the mouth the problem does not occur, but I like to use the keyboard :)

What're you using ctrl to do? Isn't spell casting mapped to alt by default? That's what I've always used anyway.

I have mapped a set of hotkeys to ALT, such as ALT + 1 thru 4 for the first 1-4 spells gems and CTRL + 1 thru 4 for the lower spells gems. This is because ALT 5 thru 8 is an awkward hand combination. So as you can see, if I'm kiting something, turns around and want to multi-task by using the keyboard to turn right/left and cast simultaneously I will interrupt my own casting by strafing.

When it's PVE who cares, stop sharting on my thread.

Ahh, that makes sense.

I also keyboard turn. Always hated mouse look.
