Two Players at same IP address

My wife wants to play everquest again. Her username is acook. May we have an IP exception for us both play at the same time?

Thank you

(I know this looks suspicious because I just posted a thread where I wanted to box. But really, it is for her and not me. She just got home from work and saw me playing and said that she would like to play again also)

go to the petition section, read the rules, then post for ip exemption in there.... also dont put your login info on forums....

acook sounds an awful lot like dcook. Your wife have the same taste in usernames or just a more accomplished chef?

This is what I like to do. Does anyone know of a project that allows this?

Yikes

Maybe cook is the last name and the A and D are first names? Never mind, that is just stupid. Whatever happened to b and c cook? *Mitch Hedburg voice* Who can play at a time like this-People are missing.

How can you have the same IP from two PCs? It seems like it would be easier to get two IPs than to request an IP exception. Are you using a router?

Just for clarity, here is a quick explanation. The two computers do have different ips, but the ips they have are referred to as private ip addresses; typically something like 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.1.255 range (not always). The two computers are thebln connected to your router which acts as the gateway with a 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 ip address.

Now your router also has a public ip address which is given to you by your internet service provider. Public ips are unique and a residential house typically only has 1, unless you pay extra. If you get into each computer and google search ipchicken, you will see the same public up address; whereas is you go into cmd and use the command ipconfig, you will see a different private ip that is assigned to you via your router.

Your router communicates to your isp via your public ip and routes traffic to your internal home local network (nat traversal)...or port forwarding.

What project1999 prevents is more than 1 MAC address per public ip.. so in order to play with 2 computers in the same household you are forced to request an ip exemption according to the rules.

This can be a explained much better and way more in depth, but I am on my cell phone.
