Crashed while camping now getting Error 1018
 

When I wen to log out a few hours ago the game crashed but now I can not log back in. It says that I have an active character, any ideas on hpw I can fix this ?

Reboot your computer. 1018's usually fix themselves after a couple minutes but you may have a hung eqgame.exe keeping a connection open.

hrm. I had 1018 bug for quite awhile recently and it totally screwed me over.

Does rebooting actually work for that? Seems kinda strange that it would. Why would the client have anything to do with what the server thinks is logged in?

this happens to me a lot - completely close EQ and log back in after 3-4 minutes and it should fix itself

I've been playing P99 for about 6 months now. In that time, I've had several client crashes and 1018s, but only twice did it last longer than 2-3 minutes, but one of those was several hours (I went and ran errands).

Rebooting computer cleared the issue. I suspect the client somehow held the connection open even though it said it crashed and wasn't visible. I didn't check task manager to see if eqgame.exe was still running.

I have had this show up in 2 ways,

first is the server side issue where you crash and have to wait for a few min, then it lets you back in.

the other is i crashed and my eqgame,exe was still running (but i didnt check or reboot for 24 hrs) and i thought i was locked out for 24 hrs. I finally checked and saw eqgame.exe running and forced quit and then i could log back in.

This is pretty accurate from my experience over the past few years.
