3 different computers, 3 different operating systems, all exact same problem

Crashing on zoning... Anywhere from 20% of the time to 50% of the time I crash when zoning. Seems too vary somewhat from day to day time to time and zone to zone.

I laptop with win 7
1 desktop with win 10
1 desktop with win xp sp 3

I tried wineq with both the desktop computers. two without win xp are in compatibility and run as administrator for win xp sp 2 or 3 (tried both and neither seems to change anything).

I get three different crashes when zoning. One is a quick-ish crash that has a pop up asking me to send my information about the crash in with a yes/no option, the other is one that boots me back to the main EQ splash screen/log in, and another where the computer just hangs not responding for 5+ mins and I am forced to kill the client. The "hangng" crash seems to be highly predicated on time of day and almost always occurs during primetime USA hours and almost never any other time.

All installations are 100% default installations other than the compatibility mode changes and whatever files i deleted as instructed to.

Edit: it also occurs with similar frequency when camping, not just zoning.

Also tried moving my installation to the main hard drive directory on the win 10 computer. Again, didn't seem to change anything.

If you are using wifi try hard wiring to your router/modem and see if that helps

No wifi, no router, no unusual ping or packetloss. Primetime I sit around 100 ping, and anywhere from 50-70 non primetime.

Rogean does ... "clever" networking stuff with the server.

It's outside my area of expertise, so I can't be more specific than that, but keep in mind that not only does he have to deal with making a 20+ year old game work (and load as quickly as possible) for thousands of players ... but then on top of that he has to deal with psychopaths like Green Grocer who attack the servers using DDOS or other measures (which means Rogean then has to take certain countermeasures to protect the servers).

You essentially have two options to deal with "Rogean's cleverness" (which, again, is very much necessary). Option A) find the thread (it's not that old) where they talk about how to debug your router settings to fix things. Option B) get a VPN: it costs $5 a month, let's you download bit torrent files without anyone knowing, and it solves most people's networking problems on P99.

They do recommend service pack 2.

Run in admin mode.

Duxaui fixes may help with some issues? I have it loaded as per some videos that don't use a lot of the extra files used for live, past Velious expansion. I rarely have any zoning/crashing issues while using Windows 10.

It's possible you are having problems because you aren't using a router for whatever strange reason.

I'm going to assume OP that it worked at one time and now it doesn't? Or has it always not worked? If the latter, I would say there's likely a problem with the Titanium install. If the former, I unfortunately don't know. Just wanted to clarify for anyone given some of the responses I was seeing.

3 computers with the same problem and you swear they're default installs? The problem is probably with the things you haven't changed.

Obviously the solution is to move houses, preferably somewhere with a different internet provider. ;)

(It's probably your connection.)

While this won't fix your problem, it's a bit dangerous to connect directly to WAN and skip the router. You're exposing your external IP address DIRECTLY to your computer instead of a private network.

If I were to scan your ports, I bet I could find a running torrent server... Xplay or similar media server using default ports... a web server .... etc. Best to use a router, tbh. If I were to do it on a router, I'd probably find nothing unless you explicitly setup port forwarding.

How is a ruoter any different? It still dietly connects to your computer. it all comes down to your firewall in either case.

Anyway another night and the same damn problem. Seriousl I dont think i would have ever played on p99 if I knew it was going to be this awful. I wondr how many don't play here because of this networking issue or whatever it supposedly is.
