Green tank question!
Hi there!
I know it might be ill advised from all the advice I see here, but I'm just really stubborn when it comes to wanting to play tanks in games. Will I be at a serious detriment if I started playing a tank on day 1? Granted I'm sure its not as bad as I think, since I'll be picking between a shadowknight and paladin. If it is, am I just better off at maining a druid or necromancer till then? |

Your biggest hurdle is likely being that xp penalty that hybrids take. If you're ok taking longer than a traditional warrior then have as much fun as you can playing the class that looks the most enticing.

I am going Orge SK.. We need more tanks.. Looking at poles Tanks will be needed:) If your struggling to find groups add me. Two tanks just means no need for those pesky enchanters:)

Tanks will not have a problem getting groups.

I'm more picky than most about exp penalties, and I'd generally prefer a hybrid tank than having to rely on roots or whatever. But I'll be pretty fucking picky about adding any other hybrids unless we really needed more bodies. |
The best way to play a tank will be if you have at least one other friend starting up with you as a healer. Then you are making your own groups. Even better if you have a multi-player crew or a guild to help back you up. Its going to be harder to make your way all by yourself, and if you play at odd hours (not north American primetime) then finding groups will be tough and soloing any tank, even SK, is slow and tedious compared to the druid or necro you mentioned.
Just food for thought, I say make a warrior and go hard, you can always reroll something else later if it turns out to be a bad idea. |

I think rogues will be the toughest class to roll. They will require a tank and a healer to be viable unless you have a caster group fear kiting. Tanks will be a minority. You will probably see a lot of root rotting, snaring, and pet tanking groups that will make it tough for rogues to play in.
