Yeah this was all put in as part of the original textures. I wouldnt think it could be changed.

As any true classic aficionado knows, the original game design was intended to include Kunark and Velious at launch. Not surprising that eastern port graphics have references to Kunark and western ports have references to Velious. Thurgadin mines area was originally designed to be the Coldain newbie area.

989 (then Redeye, then Verant) originally thought the game would be short-lived... I don’t think any of them fully imagined MMORPGs turning into what EQ and then WoW became.

I think in that article from the 20th anniversary about EverQuest's development they confirmed that. I think it said something like they expected people to play the game for a few months and then move on, just like any other video game. They didn't expect people to just continue to play and play and play.
