How does Dark Elf as a race stack up against alternatives?
 

For a mage in my case. Is ultra vision much of an upgrade over the other visions types on green? How valuable is the hide skill?

They pretty much have only innorruuk as a deity, the symbol items seem decent (clicks snare sounds pretty useful).

Stats wise they seem alright?

Being evil screws you over I imagine for town access.

Ultravision is better than infravision. That's all I can really say. I wouldn't make it a deal breaker for a race choice.

The hide skill is cool, when it works, but isn't a deal breaker for a race choice.

Innoruuk is the one true god!

You won't be able to go into the majority of towns, but that just makes it that much better when you come back and farm their guards for plat!

Excellent intelligence, great vision. Hide is meh since you get invisible anyway.

Everything else is gravy. The newbie zone is good, you can get pretty far without leaving it if so you wish. The vision is as good as it comes though.

Mage benefits very little from Dark Elf racials. They can summon their own Ultravision item that goes in the ammo slot. And you can't use hide with a pet up, so it's mostly useless.

Dark elf corpses stack up on the ground just the same as any race I bet! LOL
