Kunzar Ku'Juch - Effectiveness of Aggro?

So i bought this weapon for 1k and it procs Engulfing Darkness.
Slight Problem. Since its a lvl 11 Necro spell pretty much every mob
thats above 40 or so resists it, and since it resists, it wont grab aggro will it?

Which leads me to another question, if the mob resists the weapon proc,
will it still have a chance at grabbing the aggro?

Currently i have a SSOY and i replaced the Kisch der Pav with Kunzar Ku'Juch.
Perhaps i should just grab another SSOY? Ringed maces of Ykesha are probably
going to skyrocket so i dont want to get one unless its cheap. Suggestions?

Yes, resisted procs still cause aggro! Also the weapon proc should cast at the lvl of the wielder iirc.

Level of the spell shouldn't affect resists, as long as the weapon is casting the effect @ the user's level.

I cast level 1 nukes on mobs over 30 all the time and get a normal amount of resists.

SSOY beats all on aggro generation and they are selling for cheap as hell now. Great time to buy. I am kicking myself because I bought one for 3k and thought it was a sweet deal.

I'd rather dual yaks than use a Kunzar Ku'Juch in offhand. Actually I'd rather keep a Kisch Der Pavs in offhand over a Kunzar too, higher base damage + more damage from the proc.

I'm level 46, if I cast engulfing darkness on a bloodgill goblin that my pet has melee'd to 80% the mob will instantly start coming after me.

It SHOULD be a good amount of agro. Resists are less (if i get resisted 2x in a row with a mob at ~80% then I'll take hate, or if i cast and get resisted at 90% I'll often times take hate).

I'm pretty sure Ringed Mace of the Ykesha is just better in every way. But, I suppose it is a lot more pricey.

Spell aggro VS melee aggro has had an interesting change lately. It seems that, even though I am only level 20, if I try to keep aggro VIA DPS, even when the mob is at ~30% health, a single Druid spell with a stun component (Whirlwind or something) causes instant aggro on the druid. For melee VS melee, it just seemed that getting the first hit mattered most.

I'm also very interested to see if this proc keeps aggro off of casters. I can't afford a SSOY yet, but it would definitely be on my to-buy list if the snare component has trouble keeping mobs off casters.

Dantes 04-18-2011 03:51 PM

Yeah, of course the Ringed Mace is better. Same proc, way better ratio. I wasn't even considering the Ringed Mace in the comparison because they are going to be seriously rare and overpriced.

Keep in mind your level and the proc level of these items when considering buying them.

SSOY doesnt proc till lvl 37, Ringed mace 50, Kunzar Ku'juch at 40.

So if you're level 20 want wanting a hate proc, use Obsidian Shards from SolA. They proc at 16. Not really any better options proc-wise until you can use the SSOY. At least, as far as affordability is concerned.

Edit:

If you have someone willing to help twink you this would be nice too

Especially if you're in a group and can't get a shaman or enchanter.
